And just so, you know… I am talking about water… why you should be drinking more water.

Yesterday I started a 5-week health challenge.

This week’s goal besides working out is, drinking enough water a day. It said we have to drink 64 ounces of water a day. That is actually how much a person should always have per day. You will understand more once you’ve read the stats on water and how much of a percentage of it is in our bodies. Next week, the challenge will be NO sweets. Oh, boy that one will be tough.

Health has been something I have been thinking about for awhile. I want to be in top shape, so that I can have the best life and the longest life possible. Going out and about I have seen that our world today has slightly flopped. People don’t really care about themselves as much anymore. They eat way too much. When I was in Vegas, I saw a food place called “ Heart Attack Grill ” that sells super unhealthy food. They actually allow people who weigh 350 lbs or more to eat free. I mean if that doesn’t frighten you the name of their burgers (Single, Double, Triple, Quadruple Bypass Burger) and what they use to make their shakes sure should (they use butter… in shakes… -_-). Just the thought grosses me out.

I have never eaten gross stuff like that – THANK GOD. But, I know I haven’t eaten as healthy as I should. I’ve decided to eat better so I can be the best, I can be. With a healthy body there are no limits.

Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20

Since the focus this week, is water I’ve decided to look up a bunch of information about water. Here are some helpful and exciting things about water and why you should be drinking it.

70 percent of the world’s surface is water

60 percent of your body is made of water

According to, H.H. Mitchell, Journal of Biological Chemistry 158: • the brain and heart are composed of 73% water • the lungs are about 83% water. • Skin contains 64% water • bones are watery: 31%. – Water helps digest our food so it can provide us with energy, it helps to transport waste out of the body, and it is important in controlingl body temperature.

Babies have more water than adult men and women. And women have less water than men. (According to Dr. Jeffrey Utz, Neuroscience, pediatrics, Allegheny University, different people have different percentages of their bodies made up of water. Babies have the most, being born at about 78%. By one year of age, that amount drops to about 65%. In adult men, about 60% of their bodies are water. However, fat tissue does not have as much water as lean tissue. In adult women, fat makes up more of the body than men, so they have about 55% of their bodies made of water.)

Can you see why water is so important for us to drink?

First, take your weight.

Multiply it by 2/3 or 67%

And you will get how many ounces of water you should drink.

Then, just turn it into cups and you have the amount of water that you should be drinking per day. (Check out this sight for a good explanation on this further .)

I started drinking more water yesterday and I can already feel a difference in my skin. I really love this feeling. It’s like my skin feels so refreshed.

You will get healthier skin.

You’ll start losing some weight. Because it helps control calories.

It will clean you out.

Gets rid of headaches.

Helps your kidneys and also helps you maintain a healthy bowel movement. (okay, you are probably thinking… too much info.) haha.

Try Spa Water. And hey, it’s even pretty to look at if you store it in a glass pitcher on the table. But check out these awesome new water bottles. • Get some strawberries and oranges. Cut them up and add them. It will add some flavor to it.

I promise, you will feel much better after drinking more water. Like I said I started feeling a difference later in the day, the day I started.

Here is a free app that will help you keep track of your water intake.

What about you? Have you been drinking enough water? If so, how has it made a greater impact in your day to day activities?
